About The Courses

Proudly South African, the Just Engage Online Antenatal Class exists to bring a time-efficient and holistic option to the antenatal course space.

We want to see men and women adequately prepared for the event of childbirth and for the enormous transition to parenthood that lies beyond. Our class consists of pre-recorded video lectures in 6 mini-courses, notes to download, blogposts to read, and discussions to get involved in.

We try to cover the traditional antenatal course content and more so as to explain all the possible choices available to expecting women and couples. Each family must be equipped to make the best informed decisions for themselves.

Course 2 Labour & Natural Birth

Natural labour can be a different experience for different women, ranging from extremely positive to devastatingly traumatic! This course is about preparing for the former and preventing the latter.

While I was pregnant with my first child, I was told,
”Relax, women have been giving birth for centuries. How hard can it be?”
This mentality persuades expecting moms to just leave the labour and birthing process to our bodies and hope it’ll know what to do in the moment. However, preparation is essential to a positive experience.

Reading through information, getting equipped with skills that can help you cope with the process and hearing other people’s stories can all help to prepare you physically, mentally and psychologically for birth.

The first thing you need to decide is whether you actually want to deliver your baby naturally. If the answer is ‘YES’ then try to understand the different stages of labour and what you might expect to happen in each. Finally make notes on the things you can do pro-actively to hopefully have the best possible outcomes.

In this course, we will cover the following lessons:

 1. Water Birth as a Birth option
