This is Rourke – my 7 month old fourth son. Through four boys, I can confidently say I have never bought any of them a pair of baby leggings, ever! In my mind, leggings are for girls: under tutus and dresses, usually pink, black or red and I remember wearing them as a young girl myself especially through all my dancing years.
Well I recently tried two pairs of these BabaBear leggings and I am loving them – and I dare say Rourke is too. I think particularly for this stage between 6 and 18 months where they are so active but in a very experimental way, it helps to be in clothes that aren’t too tight that they are restrictive and aren’t too loose that they get caught on things or trip the baby or toddler up.
I have loved watching Rourke over the last month pushing himself developmentally. From 6 months sitting quite calmly and exploring things held in his hands, he now happily twists and rolls to get near things he wants. He’ll push up confidently with his hands and has started coming up to all fours and rocking then collapsing which is great preparation for crawling. He even does the odd pike (which would make any Pilates instructor proud) and he loves the applause and encouragement he gets from his siblings and parents with each new victory!
His hand-me-down clothes from brothers and friends although cute are mostly heavier, a lot more bulky like jeans or dungarees and probably make it more tedious to get around. These baby leggings are seriously practical!
We are now in August and the seasons are changing. I have dressed Rourke in them for daytime play inside our home where it’s quite warm but also as an extra layer under his big winter onesies when we go out and then after his evening bath either with a long sleeved vest or under an extra sleepsuit on colder nights.
The 6-12 month size have been perfect for Rourke but there is still room for growth and I rolled them up a bit at the ankles so they should be fine for him at least until his first birthday. The baby leggings are available in 3 sizes though – small (6-12 months), medium (12-18 months) and large (18 month+). Made from 80% cotton, 17% polyester and 3% spandex they are ideal for day-to-day use. The characters over the nappy area at the back make them super cute and there are a number of various themes to choose from including:
